Cloud computing is changing the way IT resources are utilised and has the potential to transform traditional server infrastructure into a dynamic environment where new applications are delivered via the internet and institutions’ IT complexity and cost are reduced.
However, there are significant hurdles to widespread adoption, including legal, compliance, data security and political issues. In this section, we would like to share some thoughts and reflections on this topic through a number of CETIS people's blogs and to explore the growing impact of cloud computing for educational use within institutions.
There are currently two general JISC funded research projects in this area, Technical Review of Cloud Computing for Research and Review of the Environmental and Organisational Implications of Cloud Computing in Higher and Further Education.
