Gartner Research defined enterprise architecture as the process of translating business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by creating, communicating and improving the key principles and models that describe the enterprise’s future state and enable its evolution (Anne Lapkin, 2009) More universities and colleges are identifying enterprise architecture as an important instrument to help it to manage its strategic ICT development. JISC supported pilots in applying Enterprise Architecture (EA) in HE have established a workable approach to EA with a strong emphasis on the strategy and institutional governance and a pragmatic ambition in respect of the depth to which EA can be applied across an institution.
